Started this earlier tonight instead of doing something productive…
Seawater
I did this supposed-to-be-a-quick-sketch that I spent longer on that I should have. You know how they say to add a figure to add interest to landscape/environment images, but this –
looks much better to me –
than this. I even tried moving the hawkman around (he was originally much larger and in the top-half of the image), changed his scale, tilted him, etc. None of it looked as good as just having that open space there.
Lots of sketches
I was pretty productive today!
This is a very quickly done character concept, I don’t think it was more than 3 hours. It still needs to be refined.
This was the first thing I colored today. I wanted to sketch and try a more relaxed technique of just starting with color, adding line occasionally on top of the same layer if needed, then the lines would naturally eventually be painted over.
I felt like attempting some city sketches, this was the first one.
This was the second one. It’s the only one I used a photo reference for (a photo I took in NYC looking down a deserted alley in Chinatown), and oddly enough I think it’s the weakest one.
The third one. I had fun with these.
Did this random drawing before bed.
A little doodle of Elsium to try painting with a soft brush, which is a method I’m not very familiar with.
Elsium Sketches
Boy do I love sushi, but it sure makes me feel unproductive, and … yawwwn … tired. Going to bed now.
I had tamagoyaki, soba noodles, eel rolls, lots of different kinds of masago, an amazing cabbage salad with peanuts… ahhh.
