Sketch: Skeletor and He-Man from “Masters of the Universe” | June 20, 2026
June 20, 2026Digital Art,Sketches & Studies
Saw the He-Man / "Masters of the Universe" movie on Friday, and it was such a fun romp! I'm not very familiar with the source material - I haven't watched the show - but I went in expecting a campy good time. It delivered on this, and more, as I constantly felt the budget for this movie felt much higher than what I would expect for a movie of this scope. Which was an absolute treat for an audience-member, but it made me concerned for how this movie might perform at the box office - as while I enjoyed the movie quite a bit, it felt very niche.

Trahearne & Malyck in Cleansed Orr – GW2 | June 13, 2026
June 13, 2026Digital Art,Finished Art,Guild Wars 2
"The scholar witnessed the fulfillment of his dream."
I was reminded of this drawing last week, during the lead-up to Guild Wars 3's announcement last Friday. During those days before - when GW3 was still a whisper of a guess - I saw fan speculation about how the teaser the studio showed early las week might be a "cleansed Orr." Which reminded me of this older art I was inspired to paint shortly after finishing the Knight of the Thorn questline when it was first added to the game.
It involves one of my fan stories where Trahearne brings Malyck to a cleansed Orr, after Trahaerne cleanses Malyck from Mordremoth's corruption (this fan story takes place after Heart of Thorns).

Lorcan Loose Ref – Nightmare’s Embrace | June 11, 2026
June 11, 2026Digital Art,Guild Wars 2,Sketches & Studies,Work-In-Progress
I'm at the point while drawing "Nightmare's Embrace" (which I'm realizing as I'm typing this I should create a webpage I can link to, so I don't have to explain what it is each time) where I can't rely on my haphazard mix of different ref screens and drawings of my characters - at least, not if I want them to maintain a minimum semblance of design consistency.
I didn't have a solid design for Lorcan's outfit until now, because every time I've drawn him I've done so slightly differently. Which is acceptable for paintings, not as much for comic pages. This is a loose drawing tonight to figure out which design I want to use for him in the mini-comic.

The Harbinger’s Path: Print Update #4 – Books! | June 1, 2026
June 1, 2026Comics,Printed,Printed Books
The Harbinger's Path Trahearne & Malyck fan comic debuted in print at Manga Ichiba during Fanime last week! Thank you so much for your interest and patience waiting for these books, and thank you again if you could visit! It was incredible meeting Trahearne fans in-person. I'll never forget the experience!
I'll do a proper write-up about the convention another time, but because I did say I would have information about these books after the convention, I wanted to put this post up first.

The Harbinger’s Path: Bonus Booklet Preview! | May 19, 2026
May 19, 2026Comics,Finished Art,Guild Wars 2,Printed,Printed Books
Earlier this month, after finalizing the main print book for The Harbinger's Path, I was contemplating whether it was possible to put together a "bonus booklet" with some extra material I ran out of space for in the main print volume.

The Harbinger’s Path: Print Update #3 – Book Final + Proof Photos! | May 6, 2026
May 6, 2026Comics,Guild Wars 2,Printed,Printed Books
I spent much of the tail end of April finalizing The Harbinger's Path print version, and wanted to share some photos of one of the book's proofs from during this time! I ended up spending much more time than I'd planned refining the print version, and despite telling myself not to do this excessively - I ended up manually adjusting or making art refinements to every single page, haha. On the plus side, I'm pleased with how it's turned out! I think the extra time was worth it, and I hope this comes across to anyone who holds the final book in their hands!
All photos in this post are graciously taken by my printer (many, many thanks to them again for being so wonderful to work with!).
The rest of the photos & post are below, along with one or two higher-resolution photos:

Laranthir of the Wild – Paintover Warm-up | April 23, 2026
April 23, 2026Digital Art,Guild Wars 2,Sketches & Studies
My time has been occupied by trying to squeeze in as many final edits to the book as I'm able to - which has involved some painting, and made me feel like like doing a small paintover of one of my older Laranthir artworks today. I'm not sure if I've ever posted the original before, because I wasn't happy with how it turned out. Above is the paintover from this morning, and the original version is in the full post below:

Manga Ichiba Circle Cut + Table Info | April 9, 2026
April 9, 2026Comics,Digital Art,Guild Wars 2,Sketches & Studies
Finished my circle cut for Manga Ichiba! These are used as a way for the convention organizers to show who the participating doujin tables are. It's carried over from Comiket ("comic markets") in Japan. In JP, doujinshi are much more commonly created and shared - compared to here in NA, where we don't have an established doujin culture (...yet!).

DnD Commission: Atticus, Osiris, Pontos | April 3, 2026
April 2, 2026Commission Process,Commissions,Digital Art,Finished Art
Recently finished commission for Skylark celebrating this year's anniversary with their partner! Their DnD characters - Atticus in the back, a solider; Osiris up front, a sorcerer; and Pontos - Atticus' trusty griffon!
Here the trio fly high above the skies, Osiris slightly hesitant at first, as he isn't used to flight as Atticus and Pontos are!

Updating art for contact cards + New Pen Holders! | April 2, 2026
April 2, 2026Printed
In preparing for the convention this Saturday, an unexpected thing I realized is it gave me the perfect excuse to update a few artworks I've been meaning to eventually do, but haven't had the opportunity to get around to before now.
You might have seen the above artwork of Arquel here and there. I've posted a crop of it before, and I use it as a profile photo for some of my socials. I quite like this painting of him, but it's been unfinished for a while. Other projects have arrested my time. While still not entirely finished, entirely because of this convention, I refined it to the point where I was comfortable printing it for a contact card. Especially since these are small by definition (for scale, look to the pen in the background of the above photo).
Here are the 3 artworks I chose for these contact cards! This photo was taken in more neutral lighting (the photo at the top of this post was during a time of glorious sunlight), and are more color-accurate to how Arquel printed (the blues!). These cards are for the convention this Saturday. I decided to print these because originally, I thought I would only have 1 Duskbirds Comics zine to show. I was thinking my table was at risk of looking rather barren, and was trying to come up with ways to have it look a bit less sparse.
My first and easiest thought I had were contact cards (or "business cards" - though it feels funny calling them that since I'm using these for conventions and not as a business contact). Business cards are easy to print, and I'm always very happy with the quality from the printer I use for them (it's Moo!). I haven't printed their square business cards before, but was always a bit curious about them. This seemed like the perfect opportunity, because aside from the side with contact info, I was interested in these potentially being good art samples I could show - especially for the side with The Harbinger's Path cover on it, since Harbinger's print version will be finished for May's convention, and not this April one.
