Edit: A few more versions:  I’m not sure if I prefer the earlier version to these. I started painting over in the earlier version, and in this version, I tried tinkering with the lineart layer more. I’m leaning toward this version because the drafting has a better foundation here.  Original post below: Small sketch of...Continue Reading

Yesterday’s page of The Harbinger’s Path shares similarities with the earliest Trahearne art I ever painted – which made me want to scrounge them up and post here! I probably never posted them on their own to this blog, though they are in the Trahearne & Malyck compilation archive (which as of this post, is...Continue Reading

I just returned from being out of a town for a bit! I wasn’t able to do any drawing while away, so this is a warm-up drawing to have my hands become used to the swing of things again.  I randomly had this image of Arquel holding Corveil like this soon after waking up this...Continue Reading

Warm-up sketch. He has clothes now!  A very loose, additional paper sketch in the full post:

Corveil from a painting I’ve been knocking around on the side! Another construction practice from imagination from a bit ago – last month, to be precise. This might be a potential WIP (the full composition is full body), but I’m undecided yet on whether I’d take this further or not.

Detail crop of Trahearne from the finale page for Chapter 1 of The Harbinger’s Path. Always meant to post this at some point, and why not today!  It’s curious for me looking at this again. At the time of this page’s completion, I was quite pleased with this portion of the page, in particular. Though...Continue Reading

In addition to the Trahearne and Malyck practice animation I made for Heart of Thorns' 10th anniversary last month, a much smaller thing I also finished by that day was adding a bit of animation to chapter 2's finale page. This version of the page has been live since the, and you can view it here!  More in the full post!

Recently finished ref sheet commission! I’m so humbled when I’m asked to do a ref sheet commission, because it isn’t something I formally list anywhere that I do, but the ones I’ve done have been very enjoyable. Many thanks to Zecknel for this one, in particular, because when first asked to do this, I let...Continue Reading

Over the summer, I started doing some small practice 2d animation tests for fun. I ended up really enjoying these, which was a bit surprising, because I've always been a bit rubbish with 2d animation. I always found it frustrating. Once it became around September or so, I wished to continue practicing, but knew I had to set the time I was spending animating for the comic. At least, if I wanted Chapter 3 to be ready on schedule. I had the idea that maybe I could set aside an hour of the day to practice animating - only, I

Crop from a Trahearne sketch started a while back I’d like to finish sometime.  In my mind, this more or less pairs with the Malyck WIP sketch from last month. Both were initially drawn at around the same time.

Sketched them again yesterday in-between waiting for commission feedback! I’m so happy I started drawing with lines again this year. I have to admit that before this year, most of the time I found line drawing one of the less enjoyable parts for me. Which is a bit peculiar, as I loved drawing when I...Continue Reading

Sketch from last night. I never tire of drawing them!
