I don’t know what I’m doing, but it’s fun to try these. Click for a slightly larger, unblurry version. Totally don’t know what I’m doing here Sketch sketch

More random designs! These are relaxing to do at the end of the day. This brush is very fun! A little hard to control, but think I’m getting a feel for it.

Two random birdlike concepts. The left one started with some scribbles without much thought and it turned into a vaguely wrathlike thing, and it just developed from there. It’s a ram man I’ve been able to head out east a couple times recently, and took some photographs and videos of the farms there. I’m so...

Bird creature. It’s mostly done but it still needs some small refinements (mostly the hands). I’m trying to develop a design that merges a bird form with a human figure without it being extremely creepy. I did a colored one a while ago that was way too human, and it even creeped me out in...

I did the basic shape of this while having a sporadic email-chat conversation, so it’s not as clear as it should be.

Was experimenting with the brushes I made. Fun!

Did a shortish dragon fruit still-life study tonight. I wasn’t planning to since I am extremely tired today, but I wanted to do a little in case they don’t look as fresh tomorrow. They are so gorgeous fresh. Ever since I painted the onion, I’ve been drooling to paint a dragon fruit. They have the...

I was looking at some onions after dinner and felt like doing a short observational drawing. One layer, no adjustment layers or filters or anything, one simple brush (a square brush) – really basic. It’s been forever since I’ve done an observational drawing that wasn’t a quick gesture, this was fun.

And this was from earlier today: Made another fun brush. Fast sketchpaint to try it out. No reference, very obviously, haha.

Toby sketch from Harvest Moon: Tree of Tranquility.

I was too tired last week to upload these, some really simple and quick sky/sunset sketches from last weekend. Some imagined, some from photos, one from observation. They’re roughly ordered from the last one I did to the first. Imagined Imagined Looked at a photo for the colors From a photo Outside my window. It’s...

This has convinced me that it is generally a bad idea for me to work on sketches started many months ago…

10/15 Update Revised the little Belgian Bantam ;) Older version in the full post.

Another chicken study from that chicken encyclopedia of mine, this time of a Japanese Bantam.

7/30 doodle that went on for far too long

finished an art trade of my friend’s characters (: it was good practice for action poses, which i need to work on more

update: Character design by Ryan Melley! Though I kind of altered/butchered parts of it unintentionally haha (supposed to have green skin, for one) but this is what came to mind when I saw the sketch. Is it done? I don’t know.

Version with close-up Finished the drawing! Again, this is Sette from the webcomic Unsounded. Had a lot of fun coloring this one, think I learned some new things. Namely, some color restraint. Original WIP Post: Working on some fan art for Ashley Cope’s newly launched webcomic, Unsounded, which you should go read RIGHT THIS MINUTE...

Paint sketch-things of some mountain-like things with inaccurate lighting. I’ve never done a landscape like this before, but someone showed me another artist’s process that made me want to give it a quick try. Click the link to see more.
