update: Character design by Ryan Melley! Though I kind of altered/butchered parts of it unintentionally haha (supposed to have green skin, for one) but this is what came to mind when I saw the sketch. Is it done? I don’t know.

Doodle that I decided to finish, it was fun coloring practice. I can’t believe I drew it again, I wasn’t intending to, but its design is so fun it just happens.

Why, if you had a tongue like this, you’d have a friend wherever you went! Quick doodle, considering coloring it because … it makes me smile.

I must admit that it is incredibly fun to line stuff using SAI. I haven’t done a clean, “inked” drawing like this in years. Planning to color it soon.

Yeah, I know. But these small paintings are really fun to try different coloring styles. I wanted to see if I could color this small thing quickly. I’m still not fast but I think I’m getting faster .. somewhat. Coloring with Gimp is so much more fun than Photoshop, it’s ridiculous. ;_;

Alchemy (an open-source/free drawing program) with some Gimp (an open-source/free digital painting program) paintover. I had a lot of fun with Alchemy. Just let the chaos take over, and it turned into a fish. :) I like the sharpness of this Alchemy tool. :O

Hoatzin pencil sketch/study. A Hoatzin is a type of cuckoo! A very pretty one at that. It’s the punk bird of the cuckoo world. It’s amazing how much more fun drawing can be on different types of paper. This is on a lightweight watercolor paper.

Before I switched to a Mac, there was a small, lightweight, little-known app called OpenCanvas that was my digital paint program of choice. As OpenCanvas is not Mac supported, my Mac forced me to learn Photoshop. I’m glad it did, as I grew to really love working with Photoshop. But, I always wondered about OpenCanvas....Continue Reading
