I couldn’t resist an attempt to redraw the face. I’m not entirely happy with this, but it’s satisfying (at least for me) comparing the difference to the earlier version (in the full post):.

Crop WIP from an overpainting I was noodling with recently. I’m not planning to post the original version for this one before I began painting over it, because frankly it is not very good, haha. At this point, it would probably be better if I started a new painting instead of painting over this one – but there’s something so satisfying about overpainting! Plus, I can only be inefficient like this in my personal works. There are no deadlines! I can just enjoy the process!
But, that is also why I am not sure I will end up finishing this one, because the errors do still bother me. I do still enjoy the concept – in the full composition, he’s dual-wielding his Crying Thorn dagger alongside an Antique Revolver. I used to draw Malyck with more revolver-style pistols, but since starting The Harbinger’s Path comic, I’m thinking of changing the revolver in this painting into one to match his style of weaponry he wields in the comic (I’ve been drawing him wielding Bloodlily in his off-hand).
