2025 Art Summary | December 21, 2025

2025 summary of art showing 12 art pieces for each month of this year. It’s been a while since I did an end-of-year art summary! I tried to show a variety, as it could have easily been mostly comic pages this year. The Harbinger’s Path was definitely my main creative fixation for 2025. :D

I didn’t realize until counting just now, but I finished exactly 50 comic pages since announcing The Harbinger’s Path in April! I almost can’t believe that. It really was an obsession that took hold of me. Still, I managed to do a few more paintings than I remember! I also did more drawings and sketches this year than past years, which aren’t shown above. While looking for artworks to include in the summary, I realized there are many drawings I haven’t post anywhere (though some were posted on this blog throughout the year).

Honorary mention for October is the Trahearne-Malyck 2D practice animation, which I’ll add again here below:

My output in terms of personal art projects was definitely much more this year than previous years. I’ve been meaning to type up a post reflecting on why that was, as it was a very deliberate aim I wished to strive for at the beginning of this year.

Next year, I want to do more small comic projects and 2D animations, alongside drawings and paintings. :D

Edit 11:12 pm:

Also an alternate version for September – I forgot I worked on this paintover while I was looking for another file just now.

Adding to the full post as other than September, it’s identical to the above:

Malyck-Trahearne Sketch | December 19, 2025

I did this warm-up sketch a few days ago (the b&w one below), and added color today as another quick warm-up. I want to consider doing more warm-ups which add upon previous warm-ups, as I think I’m more personally satisfied with the results. This is also how the 2d animation with the both of them was worked on earlier this year, which makes me think this type of workflow might work for how I draw,

Though, to be fair, I’ve essentially been warming-up this month by making more progress with “The Harbinger’s Path” Chapter 3 pages. Doing line clean-up/refinement, or blocking in rough drafts, seems to be effective for me to work on before doing commission painting.

Maybe I should have made a post for all the “Wintersday Trahearne-Malyck” sketches for this month. :p In fairness, I didn’t foresee I’d do more than the first one with Trahearne holding that candy cane.

Murkoph Partial Paintover (Warm-up) | December 18, 2025

Fan art of Murkoph from Unsounded where we see half of his smirking face.
2025 partial paintover of a 2013 painting | Cropped

Had the urge to do some warm-up sketching by partially painting over this ancient Murkoph drawing I did ages and ages ago. Murkoph, of course, is from the wonderful Unsounded webcomic!

Just a crop of the face – the original is about chest-and-up. The original is on this blog somewhere. I’m going to refrain from linking it, because much of the older art on this blog I have trouble looking at. :p I probably shouldn’t paint over this one; both because it is so very old, and also because of its age, I don’t currently have access to the original resolution file (this is roughly painted over the web version, which you can probably tell from artifacting here and here). Additionally, at the time, I think this painting turned out well for where I was back then (I remember learning a lot while drawing this one).

This is definitely one of the ones where I should just start a new drawing – which I do want to do, and have been wanting to do for a while! I’ll hopefully get around to it in 2026.

For now, these paintovers are a relaxing way for me to warm up, So here he is!

Edit: 3:24 pm

I apparently have no self-control, and added a bit more to him. Full composition in the full post – I called it a “WIP” on the art, but I don’t know whether I’ll further it more:

Stardew Valley Sebastian Paintover (WIP Crop) | December 17, 2025

Portrait drawing of Sebastrian from Stardew Valley. He eyes you with interest! Eric Barone’s (“ConcernedApe”) announcement today of a new, upcoming major Stardew Valley update (v 1.7) reminded me of a painting I started during the last major update, the 1.6 update when winter outfits were added. Before the patch went live, ConcernedApe teased two portraits for the winter outfits – one which showed Sebastian!

I love Stardew Valley and have played it on-and-off for several years now, yet curiously I still have not married anyone in my multiple save files, haha. I can’t choose! I love many of the NPC’s for different reasons. I still plan to, eventually. But anyway! Seeing Sebastian in his winter outfit portrait inspired me at the time to try painting him, based on that teaser image. The full image is about 3/4 body, but I was never happy with this painting, so here in the lead-up to 1.7’s launch, I was once again inspired to try painting Sebastian again – this time, with a paintover of that original painting from 2023.

I don’t know if I’ll finish this one (but I’d like to!), so here is just a small crop from the image for fun! I also don’t know if I’ll show the original 2023 version, because I was never very pleased with it, and the errors bother my eye. Because this was also drawn only from that portrait teaser (I hadn’t seen the sprite model), the outfit is also likely not accurate to how it is in-game.

So, just this crop for now!
