I made it a few years ago out of some kind of water-based clay and did not think it turned out very well, so I thought it&#8217;d be fun to practice painting on.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/lizliu.com\/sketchblog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2009\/11\/toucanback.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-297\" title=\"toucanBack\" src=\"https:\/\/lizliu.com\/sketchblog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2009\/11\/toucanback.jpg\" alt=\"toucanBack\" width=\"315\" height=\"400\"><\/a><\/p>\n<p>I&#8217;m sorry these photos are such bad quality!<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/lizliu.com\/sketchblog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2009\/11\/toucanotherside.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-295\" title=\"toucanOtherSide\" src=\"https:\/\/lizliu.com\/sketchblog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2009\/11\/toucanotherside.jpg\" alt=\"toucanOtherSide\" width=\"400\" height=\"385\"><\/a><\/p>\n<p>I think this is a great example of how much a paint job can add to a sculpture. This is what it looked like unpainted:<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/lizliu.com\/sketchblog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2009\/11\/sculpture_tucan1.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-299\" title=\"sculpture_tucan1\" src=\"https:\/\/lizliu.com\/sketchblog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2009\/11\/sculpture_tucan1.jpg\" alt=\"sculpture_tucan1\" width=\"497\" height=\"372\"><\/a><\/p>\n<p>A world of difference! It&#8217;s gone from being an eyesore to something I like to look at now. :)<\/p>\n<p>The colors are a little duller than I want (the paint I&#8217;m using is very, ah &#8230; cheap), so I&#8217;m looking forward to applying the sealer to increase the contrast. :) Just waiting for it to dry now.<\/p>\n<p>3D painting is a lot of fun. :)<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>There&#8217;s this old sculpture of a toucan that&#8217;s been sitting on my desk behind my computer for a while.
