Then I later delete or hide those earlier sketches. It seems to help me with deciding what I want to do when I can see those earlier versions to compare, especially when adjusting the pose (such as how Trahearne initially held Caladbolg downward, instead of upward).

Process

I also tried recording this one last night, which would only show from the time I opened it (not including the initial sketch from last year). This is how I discovered Krita doesn’t record anything when you use its “Isolate Layer” function, which means the most interesting part didn’t record (the new lines). I looked at the timelapse briefly and I don’t think it is very interesting – coupled with how the frames for this one lagged my pc incredibly (it caused Kdenlive to hang for 5-10 minutes before loading the frames, or adjusting the clip speed!), this one’s timelapse is probably not worth the time it would take to compile them for export.

Trahearne from Guild Wars 2!

I have this habit of occasionally going through my files, plucking an incomplete drawing or warm-up “sketchpage” from a while ago, and painting it over as either a warmup or practice and seeing what happens.
